The Board of Hafren Scientific Group is saddened to announce the death of our Chairman Nicholas Bankes on the 12th April 2014.

Nick was involved with the Group for over 8 years as a non-executive director and more recently as Chairman. He was a valued and respected member of our team who contributed to the company in many ways. He will be greatly missed.
On a professional level he helped the Group considerably by steering us through some challenging times and assisted in planning our next and more ambitious steps toward establishing Hafren as a global presence. In addition to his professional achievements he was always thoughtful, approachable and inclusive towards his board colleagues and our junior staff alike. Nick was an accomplished networker and had a unique ability to arrange the ‘jigsaw pieces’ of business together to form a viable strategic pathway. He also had a unique talent to put people at their ease and after an intense day he could relax and entertain staff and visitors alike with stories of the steel industry, visits to China or of characters from the City.
On a personal level he was an honourable and thoughtful man, and a good friend and confidant. On behalf of the Board and all the staff in the Group, I would like to extend our deepest sympathises to his wife Sheri and his family.
